Offered for sale: A complete Lionel Train Set, Quality made in New York, N. USA in the late 1940s and early to mid 1950s. Included are the following items. #2020 20 wheel steam locomotive, weighing in at 5 lbs and 7 ozs. It is a Die-Cast Steam Locomotive modeled after the Pennsylvania RR S2 Turbine Locomotive. It was both bench tested and track tested, using the transformer and track that is included. It ran excellent, as designed in Forward, Neutral and Reverse. And, although the “Ole Man” made between 1947 and 1949, is a Senior, he smokes like a teenager. There is a small piece of blue painters tape on the top which indicates the proper position of the E-Unit lever to operate the engine in the 3 cycles. A small bottle of Lionel Liquid Smoke is included. However, do not add any until that which is already in the engine is used up. And then only add a drop or two. Less is best in this case. It was cleaned, lubed and oiled as required. # 6466 WX Lionel Whistling Tender. Circa late 1940s to early 1950s. The whistle worked well both during the bench and track test. Lionel “Multi Control” 110 Watt RW Transformer. The original box and instruction sheet are included. Wiring, with “O” ring terminals and a Lionel “Lock-On” clip is included and is used to attach the transformer to a straight piece of track. All wheels and couplers were oiled, following a thorough cleaning. # 6555 Silver Single Dome Sunoco Tank Car. Circa 1949 to 1950. # 6356-1 Yellow New York Central RR 2-level stock car. Circa 1954 to 1955. #6424 Lionel Flatcar, Automobile Carrier w/ 2 ea. The new owner may want to “adjust down” the back wheels of the red sedan for appearance. However, as these were still in the original “Sleeve”, included, and these are only for visual loads, I find it best to leave “As Received” as they are about 60 years old. # 6456 Black Lehigh Valley RR Hopper Car. Circa 1948 to 1955. # 6560 Bucyrus Erie RR Red Lionel Crane. The cab can be rotated, the boom raised and lowered and the hook raised and lowered, all manually at the hands of the young engineer. #6119 Red, Gray & Black D. & W RR Work Caboose. 10 pcs of Lionel “O” Gauge Straight Track and 8 pcs of Lionel “O” Gauge Curved Track is included. These pieces appear to be almost new. As such, you may need strong hands to drive them fully closed. This will make very snug connections. If that is too difficult, try opening the holes at the rail ends with a very small Philips Screwdriver or other pointed object. As the are used more, the openings will loosen. At that time, it is best to fasten the track to a piece of plywood. There is enough track to made an oval about 6 ft x 3 1/2 ft. All pieces were wrapped in a foam type cloth, then wrapped in “Bubble Wrap” and then inserted in individual craft paper bags, All items were placed in a large box, with a syrofoam sheet on the bottom and the sides of the box lined with a layer of foam/”Bubble Wrap”. Pictures of the items, as packed, were taken to share, if need be. The item “Lionel Train Set From Santa!
